Junior Sports Committee

Parish Teams and Youth Clubs

Football, Table Tennis, Pool, Hockey, Swimming, Tug of War, Volleyball, Entertainment, Quiz Night … all these and more are offered as competitions for medals and trophies by the Junior Sports Committee.

If you are part of a parish youth club, or know five or six others in your parish who are in your school year (from year 5 - year 10) then you are very welcome to any Junior Sports Event. Find an adult who will help you and register your team, and either ask them to log on here, or to call Ann Kyndt on 020 8989 9032. She is the Junior Sports' Secretary and will help with all the details.

The events are hosted by different youth clubs, and so there should be an event close to your area at some point during the year. The regular events are:

Each Junior Sports Competition works in a similar way. In teams, usually of five or six, you compete against others who are close to your age. Normally year 5&6 are grouped, as are year 7&8, with separate competitions for those in year 9 and 10.

There is a registration fee - you can either pay for the whole year, which covers all the events, or you can register for particular events. In addition, for some events, there is a spectator's entry fee, usually around £2 - £3. This is how we pay for the equipment, the medals and prizes.

The only other key requirement is that your adult leader comes to a meeting just before any of the main events. This is to ensure everyone is clear about the rules, and it makes sure the events run smoothly. Again, your adult leader should phone Ann Kyndt (020 8989 9032) to get all the details.

The competitions are great fun, there are loads of prizes, and everyone is welcome … see you there!
