Who We Are

BCYS - it's all in the name

Brentwood Diocese covers all of Essex and part of East London. That's the area we work in, though we also take trips abroad and we work with other Dioceses nearby for big events like the Aylesford day and World Youth Day.

Catholic because we are part of the Catholic Church. But we are open to everyone: no-one is ever turned away from our events because they do not share our beliefs.

Youth because the BCYS is for young people. The definition of "youth" varies a lot depending who you ask! Mainly we run events and trips for young people aged 14-18, but we also have a very active group of young leaders aged 19-30, and a Junior Sports section which runs sports competitions for those in school year 5 - year 10. Our retreat house, Walsingham House runs retreats for young people from year 7-13 for most of the year, and for year 5 - 6 in the last part of the summer term.

Service because the paid management team and all the volunteer leaders are here to serve young people. But as you will see on the Message Board and the photo galleries young people are part of the BCYS - it would not exist without you!
